Middle East & North Africa

The LWCCN MENA region Conference was held in October 2022 in Ajloun, Jordan and attended by over 70 delegates from Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria as well as Australia, Brazil, Chile, France, Ireland, Germany, Jamaica, UK and USA. There were inspiring presentations and discussions on theology of the land, eschatology, regenerative agriculture, water and climate advocacy.

Eastern Europe

The LWCCN Eastern European Conference was held in June 2022 in Osijek, Croatia, and attended by about 40 people from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, and UK. The theology of creation care was new to some but good progress was made and has been followed up since the conference.

Oceania

The LWCCN Oceania Conference was held at Tahlee, Australia in April 2018 and attended by nearly 70 delegates from Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, UK and USA. Indigenous and Pacific island perspectives were particularly notable both as sources of wisdom about creation care and often as the victims of nature’s depletion and climate change.

Southern Africa

The LWCCN Southern Africa Conference was hosted by Africa Enterprise in Pietermartizburg, South Africa in February 2018. It was attended by nearly 90 people from Angola, Botswana, Canada, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Swaziland, UK, USA, Zambia, Zimbabwe. Delegates spoke of being inspired, informed and of their lives being changed through the speakers and through meeting other Christians passionate about creation care.

Western Europe

The LWCCN Western Europe Conference took place at A Rocha’s Les Courmettes Centre near Nice, France in Sept. 2017. There were nearly 80 delegates from Belgium, Egypt, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and USA. Speakers included Dr Chris Wright, Dr Ruth Valerio, Dr Rosalee Velloso Ewell and Dr Deepa Senapathi and an excellent vegan menu was enjoyed by all.

East Asia

The LWCCN East Asia Conference took place in July 2017 in Hsinchu, Taiwan attended by about 115 delegates from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Mongolia, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, UK & USA. Plenary biblical addresses were given by Prof Richard Bauckham and there were short TED-type talks from a number of delegates.

South Asia

The LWCCN South Asia Conference was held in Sept. 2016 near Kathmandu, Nepal, with over 85 delegates largely from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. There were positive discussions about the place of creation care in mission, and follow-up national conferences in Pakistan and Bangladesh.

West & Francophone Africa

The LWCCN West & Francophone Africa Conference took place in November 2015 near Accra, Ghana with about 70 delegates from Benin, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo as well as Australia and UK. There were bi-lingual talks in English and French on theology, desertification, water, biodiversity and agriculture, and national groups were formed to carry the work forwards.

Latin America

The LWCCN Conference for Latin America & the Caribbean took place in Sept. 2015 in Cusco, Peru and brought together more than 85 leaders from Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru. There was a strong focus on biblical responses to environmental injustices towards poor and indigenous communities.

North America

The LWCCN North America Conference took place in July 2015 at Gordon College, MA, USA with nearly 100 delegates from across Canada and the USA. There were sessions on theology, science and practical creation care.

East Africa

The LWCCN East Africa Conference took place in May 2015 in Brackenhurst, Kenya with about 100 delegates from Benin, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, UK and USA. Participants described the conference as ‘life-changing’ and it led to several nationals groups and a creation care trip from Kenya to Madagascar.

Southeast Asia

The LWCCN South East Asia conference took place in March 2014 in Clark, Philippines, with 86 delegates from Borneo, Cambodia, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, USA and Philippines. It was hosted by Bishop Efraim Tendero, then National Director of the Philippines Council of Evangelical Churches, and future Secretary General of World Evangelical Alliance. Working groups were formed from countries within the region.
